Performance Dress Code Rationale
Our goal is to present a formal, cohesive appearance that enhances our musical performance without drawing attention to individual members. Concert Black attire allows for a professional and uniform look, consistent with ensembles worldwide. It’s important that attire be comfortable, modest, and allow freedom of movement for the best performance experience.
Tips for Assembling Concert Black Attir
- Consider borrowing from family members or checking thrift stores for dressy clothing in good condition.
- When purchasing new items, leave room for growth.
- Keep in mind that our concerts are not black tie events, so formal attire, while nice, is not mandatory.
- The goal is for students to blend into the ensemble when viewed from a distance. Small imperfections up close are less noticeable on stage.
FAQs
- Are heels allowed? While heels are permitted, they are not recommended for choir members due to the risks of standing for long periods on risers. Flats are a safer option.
- Does hair styling matter? You have the freedom to style your hair as you like. If you choose to accessorize, try to avoid bright colors—black is preferred.
- Can I wear ties or jackets? Ties and jackets are optional. If you choose to wear them, keep in mind that black is preferred, and stage lights can make jackets uncomfortable.
